PILLAR 3
Student Opportunities
Measures:
Celebrating Cultural Education -- District will create/maintain cultural partnerships with our Tribal and Latinx families.
Action Steps:
-A Cultural Week is student sponsored in the Fall
-The district regularly meets with the TAG team from the Chehalis Tribe to maintain partnerships with our Native students and families
-Documents going home are increasingly translated into Spanish for our Spanish-speaking population
Community Service -- District will increase opportunities for students to contribute positive back in the community and look for a higher percentage of opportunities to occur off-campus.
Action Steps:
-Required Community Service Learning: The rationale behind this curriculum comes from the national movement to help students apply what they've learned in the classroom, develop leadership and communication skills, become more caring and responsible citizens, and help meet the community needs. Service learning is active learning during which students have shown much higher retention through hands-on activities.
Grade 12 25 hours
