Rich Staley

“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”  -- Teddy Roosevelt

Rich Staley has had a series of vast experiences to prepare him to become Oakville’s Superintendent.  For four years, Rich served as the Director of Teaching and Learning at Capital Region ESD 113.  He has gotten the opportunity to work with 44 school districts in the areas of School Improvement, TPEP, and a wide range of other initiatives, but always his goal was to improve instruction for our region’s students.  Prior to working at the ESD, Rich grew as an administrator in the Tenino School District; starting as an Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at Tenino Middle School, before moving to become the Principal of the Middle School and High School, and then moving to the District Office as Director of Teaching and Learning.  Before becoming an administrator Rich taught Math in the Camas School District and Middle School (all subjects) in the Wahluke School District.  Through all of his experiences, Rich’s passion for students and meeting their needs has been a constant in his life.  He brings that same passion for students to Oakville.

He is married to Laura who works in the Rochester School District as the Special Services Director.  Together, they raise 5 active kids, Caleb (20), Elizabeth (18), Madison (18), Taylor (16), and Blayze (11).  Rich attended Washington State University and is a proud Coug!  He grew up in Yakima, Washington.
