We want to share a little rundown of how eligibility works for sports and we are holding our student athletes to high standards in the classroom!

Monday is Grade Check!

Reminder that student-athletes are not able to compete with any F and they need to maintain a minimum 2.0GPA.

Grade Sheets Explained:

Students are given a grade sheet for each class they have a D or F in. On the sheet is time and date that it has to be turned into the Athletic Dept in order to be able to become eligible. Standard Deadline is end of day prior to competition...Monday games are by lunch.

WARNING - D - Student-Athlete needs to turn in the sheet signed by the teacher showing they've made an attempt to improve the grade. Ideally they bring this grade up, but they may compete with a D as long as they meet the GPA.

PROBATION - F - Student-Athlete needs to turn in the sheet signed by the teacher with a grade higher than the F and meeting the GPA requirement. Students may not compete with this grade.

INELIGIBLE - F - Student-Athlete has had an F in the same class for a 2nd Week. They are deemed ineligible. They will need to improve the grade by the following Monday in order to become eligible again. *They may appeal their ineligibility by following the steps from the handbook.

Thankfully by spring season a large percentage of our athletes have already played a season and know and understand the requirements (62% of our Athletes are Multi-Sport Athletes!)

GO ACORNS!

The SSFOA is hiring football officials! Please fill out this interest form, give them a call (253)341-1494 or go to the website ssfoa.net.

They currently have less than half the officials that they did prior to COVID. This has resulted in the struggle to have refs for games and develop new officials.

They are strongly encouraging our female community members to join and become officials. The South Sound Football Officials Association (SSFOA) was the first association to hire a female official in the state of Washington.

Please help us continue the tradition and come out and help support the youth. They are asking that at least 1 individual from the Oakville community join our association.

Reach out to them or contact Mootz!
