Welcome to a world of science! I started my career as a science teacher in the fall of 2017.  My love of science and the natural world led me to this career path and I am so glad it did! My role as an educator is to share this passion with students and families and to encourage them to think critically about how elements of our world interact and how we, as humans, are connected within all of earth's systems.

Prior to my role as an educator, I worked for the State of Washington as an environmental specialist and planner. For more than a decade I worked on a variety of projects, permits, and policies focused on the waterways, wetlands, and coastal resources of the state. I collaborated with federal, tribal, state, and local governments along with providing technical assistance and support for individuals and communities.

Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my husband traveling, reading, cooking, running, or watching the latest crime drama on tv. I also have a house full of animals - dog, cat, fish, chickens, and bees. I enjoy volunteering and giving back to my home and school communities when I can.

My educational background:

University of Virginia, BA Environmental Science

The Evergreen State College, MA Environmental Studies

Oregon State University, Grad Cert in Fisheries Management

Western Governors University, BA Science Education

Eastern Washington University, MEd Curriculum and Instruction (Summer 2022)
